argh!

November 9, 2008 at 5:42 pm (Uncategorized)

I am so behind. *sigh* I haven’t updated my word count yet, so it looks much worse than it is, but its still bad. I’m at around 8,500 words. I need to be at 15,003 by the end of today. Crap.

On top of everything else, I’m switching from windows to linux (again) today. Lets hope I backed up everything correctly.

Will update later when I’m less panicked.

6am on Day 3

November 3, 2008 at 11:02 am (Uncategorized)

I’m up a whole 2-3 hours earlier than I normally wake up. Why? I’m not sure. My eyes popped open at 5:30 (am) and I was unable to get back to sleep. I’m wide awake…sans coffee. I can think of a few reasons to explain why I’m like this today, but I choose the excitement of nanowrimo.

I’ve been writing slowly: 4289 at the start of Day 3. This isn’t terrible…I only need to hit 5,000 today to be on par with the minimum schedule…but I’ve been looking at the word counts of some of the people on the forums and I am soooooo behind in comparison.

Its best to refrain from comparing myself to others.

…   That’s easier said than done! :-P

The local wrimo group met on Saturday and Sunday and I was pleased to attend both gatherings. It was good seeing the familiar faces, and nice to meet some new ones. Part of the fun of nanowrimo is the social aspect. Its always good to commune with other writers going through month long periods of insanity.

Well, I think I will brew a pot of coffee to ensure mental alertness, which *should* mean better writing.

…   But, after all, its quantity not quality.

Today is November 1st!!

November 1, 2008 at 1:42 pm (nanowrimo)

And that means today is the first day of nanowrimo! I couldn’t be more excited!

This time yesterday I didn’t even have a vague plot idea. Today, I do, thankfully. I really hope it will carry me through to 50,000 words.

I’m using this new blog as an excuse to not write. I plan on using this blog during and after nano to chronicle my struggles as a fledgeling writer.

That being said, I’m off to try and write. The clock is ticking, afterall.
